Mica Bernas, was born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and started her ballet training at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Dance School in 1992. In August 2002, she became a company member of Ballet Philippines (BP). That same year, she performed in Hong Kong and represented the Philippines in the ASEAN Arts Festival in Cambodia. Since then, Mica has been a soloist of BP and a regular faculty member of the CCP Dance School. Again in 2003 and May 2006, she represented the Philippines in the ASEAN production of REALIZING RAMA. Since coming to New York, Mica has performed for Max Luna III, Connecticut Ballet, Zig Zag Ballet, H.T. Chen & Dancers, Leonides Arpon, and Gallim Dance Group. In June 2010, she taught Master classes for Dance Theater of Tennessee in their summer program. Since 2011, Mica has also taught dance during the summer at Brandeis Institute of Music and Art (BIMA). Since joining CDDC in 2008, she has been a lead teaching artist in their arts education programs.
