Since 1982, CDDC’s high-energy and technically demanding repertory uses movement as metaphor to take audiences on what one reviewer described as “intellectual and emotional journeys.”
The company is led by the dynamic vision of Artistic Director Carolyn Dorfman and her creative drive to communicate human experiences, interactions perceptions, and truths. CDDC’s ten members compose a uniquely talented contemporary dance ensemble. The Company is highly acclaimed for its artistic excellence and range as well as its extraordinary ability to communicate to audiences about dance and the creative process. CDDC appears at major theaters, dance festivals, and universities regionally , nationally and internationally.
Now in its 26th season, the company has also been hailed for its “elegance and power” and “technical ability,versatility, and inner fire.” CDDC presents new and repertory works by Ms. Dorfman and nationally known choreographers, regularly commissions original scores, and forges artistic collaborations.
With cohesive artistic and educational programming, the Company works on and off the stage to bring contemporary dance to its audiences. In concert performances of Company premieres and repertory works, CDDC engages audiences with its artistry. Through family and school-time performances, meet-the-artists events, post-performance discussion, and open rehearsals, CDDC engages audiences in the creative process. The Company’s unique master classes and teacher training workshops meld process and performance for the next generation of artists and educators.
